OBU-my favorite staff member!

It's week two of the OBU BlogAbout!  You can see my post from last week here.  Thank you for stopping by and be sure & check out the rest of the link ups during the 2nd annual OBU BlogAbout!

The very first person I thought about when I read "favorite professor or staff member" was Dr. Wesley Kluck.

I don't remember the first time I met him or anything, which is kind of sad, but I just remember him always being the guy that was running around with the big camera taking pictures of you when you least expected it!  I always remember being in fear of getting on Facebook & seeing a notification saying "Wesley Kluck has tagged you in a photo" because NO TELLING what you might have been doing!  He is a sneaky lil fella with that camera!  ;) :P

He was/is the school Dr. & always took such good care of me!  I was the healthiest little kid in HS, but when I went to college it was a different story!  Geez!  I had "tonsil-itis" 4 times in one year there at school & at one point I had to have 5 rocephrin shots in 6 days!  He made me so much at ease when going in with my crazy problems and made me feel comfortable & right at home (kinda like everybody at Ouachita!  ;) ).  It wouldn't have been that way without his nurse DeeDee though!  She also happened to be my roomie's mom!  =) & always made sure I was being taken care of!  She was like my mom away from home!

Dr. Kluck has such a giving heart and will do anything for anyone that asks it seems like!  His wife is a sweetheart as well! They are even better together!  =)
In the middle of my 1st semester Sophomore year I joined the competitive cheerleading team.  I had been a competitive cheerleader before, as well as cheering in HS.  I had always enjoyed competing on the blue mat more than cheering on the sidelines at a football or basketball game.  So, when I saw signs for "try-outs" just for competitive I was super interested!  It was something I never thought I would do again...& was excited to get back into something I hadn't done for almost 3 years.

Dr. Kluck was very involved with the spirit squads & helped us with whatever we needed.  The competitive squad was going to one competition & that was National's in Orlando, FL at the one & only Disney World!  & of course Dr. Kluck was going with us!

I don't have any pictures of Dr. Kluck from Disney...but here are a few from our trip!  I remember him buying me dinner one night because I was the only one at the table without a parent there! (my mom didn't come because my dad was having surgery to have his prostate cancer removed the week before we left...SOO...I let it slide!)  It's the little things like that that I remember most about him!  =)  He also bought us all National's t-shirts for making it to finals!  That may not seem like a lot, but there were 20 something of us!  SO....THANK YOU!

What a great experience that I'll never forget!  & never thought I would get to experience!

I get to see Dr. Kluck every once & a while, when I go down to visit campus & friends!  It's so good to have such great memories with such a great man!  Thanks Dr. Kluck for making my OBU experience great!

Package from Waco!

Ryder got a package in the mail today!

There was a Baylor T-shirt inside! Wahoo! Sic'um bears!!

Thank you so much Abby for Ryder's fun package!

There was also a sweet card that had Abby's voice recorded on it & Ryder LOVED it! He sat there & just kept opening & closing it saying, "Miss Abby! Again..."

Here's a little video of him with the card! Thank again Abby!

birthday boy, cake & friends

We had a great turn out at Ryder's party, & I am kicking myself now for not getting more pictures of everybody.  I didn't get any of him with his grandparents etc. etc....I am going to have to hire a photographer from now on to make sure I get everybody!

I even painted a big frame to take pictures of people behind it as the "guest book" but yeah, that didn't really happen either...even though I got a few!

{Auntie Allison & Mama!}

{my wild child in the bounce house!}
{Uncle G & Ton...we're all grown up!  TEAR!}

{birthday boy & Mama!}

{we sure do love our Pop Pops!}
{with his buddy JT}

{I made them pose--turned out cute though!}
Cake time!  He did great!  He was kinda confused when everybody was singing to him, but then he blew out his candle & dug right in!  =)

After opening presents...we are truly blessed for sure!
Daddy got him a fourwheeler for his house & he wasn't to sure about it at first, but the big kids showed him how to do it & then we couldn't get him off of it!  We would turn it on slow & he learned how to do it from watching us & would switch it back to fast!
{I love my lil two year old Punkin!}

{We're so glad cousin Tonya flew down for the day for his party!  =)}
{Kelly & Whitney-Mommy's high school friends!}

{CUTE!!}
{yeah...my eyes are closed but it's the only one of all of us I had!}
{Ryder kissin' Ainsley}
{After he kissed & hugged her he jumped up & down in excitement...& everybody was watching.  It was PRETTY funn!}

{PawPaw with Granny Jean}

I seriously failed at taking pictures of friends & family at his party, but live & learn I guess!  I will just try & do better next time, but we are so thankful for everyone that got to come!  =)

Ryder's 2nd Birthday Party-decor

I am going to do Ryder's party in 2 parts...decor & then friends, just like last year here & here.

I finally decided on a baseball theme for Punkin's 2nd birthday a few months ago when I ran across some cute decorations at TJ Maxx.  He currently loves baseball & I knew I wanted to go with a red, white & blue them & make it like a ballpark & have hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, cracker jacks & bubble gum!  =)  Pinterest also helped me decide on a theme!
Jake has a great big backyard & it worked out PERFECTLY for the party.  There's open space but also a big shade tree.  The weather was so perfect & it wasn't too hot so it was actually really enjoyable!
  I made the "CONCESSIONS"s sign with my silhouette machine & it turned out just how I envisioned it!  It was a bit windy & I started to freak out about all the decorations, but it all worked out!
I got the cardboard popcorn holders at TJ Maxx & can be be found here.
 What's a baseball game without cracker jacks!?
Mimi found the "2" for us at a flea market & I just painted it red!
 These were little goodie bags for the kids.  Big League Chew gum & Cracker Jacks in an old school locker basket my mom gave me.
 All the frames are from his birthday party last year that I collected from Goodwill, that I just spray painted different colors!  =)

 We placed his presents in a lil red wagon that Mimi let us borrow.
 We found these cute little baseball sports drinks at Wal-Mart & in the perfect colors!  Mimi also had this little wagon we put them in.  The wagon quickly became Ryder's favorite toy & he pulled it around ALL night!

 The bounce house was a HUGE success!  It was a jump house & a slide!  Ryder loved it!  I didn't get to watch him play too much because I was busy taking care of everything else, but he LOVED it & would slide down on his belly!  Ha!  You can rent this one & many more here.
 I just ordered cupcakes & a smash cake for him because I didn't want to have to deal with making them!  ;)  My mom NEVER bought me a store bought cake & then one year she did & I was really upset & said, "You bought me a store bought cake?"  Lol...kinda bratty yes, but it was just special that she always made ours!  Maybe one day I'll make Ryder's!  Ha!

 His little baseball smash--chocolate on the inside of course!

 All the fixins for the burgers & hot dog...there was chili in the crock pot for chili dogs!

 YUMMERS!!

That about wraps up the decor!  It was pretty simply & not too much work, & my colors & theme was easy to work with!  I was very happy with how everything turned out!

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!
