mid week randoms

We've been away for a few days and it's been GLOOO-RIOUS--but at the same time I always itch for routine!  Just a few mid-week randoms for ya!
Thank goodness for iPads on road trips!  & earbuds!  ;) (can I get an amen Mamas?!)
Thankful for iced carmel machiattos when I have a killer headache...
I checked out this book from the public library...I've read almost all of his books, but not this one!  (and yes that's large print...it's all they had!). & PS that sunscreen is worth a try for the smell alone if you haven't tried it already!
We've been on lots of adventures and eatting lots of yummy foods while being away which is alwats fun!  So far this fancy chicken fajita has been my fav!

Lots of things to catch you guys up on when we get settled back in and I can't wait!

How is it already Wednesday?  and in the third week in July?!  This summer has flown by faster than any summer I can recall!

I hope you are enjoying yourselves and making memories with family and friends!

mid week randoms

A new restaurant opened here in town this week--Tacos 4 Life!  It was created by two OBU graduates that live here in town.  They already have one restaurant in town called Pitza 4 2 (pronounced four-two, not forty two).  The concept started with them wanted to address the world wide problem of starving children.  At both restaurants, every meal you buy...you are also buying a meal for a hungry child.  I like to tell people it's the same idea as Tom's.  Meal 4 meal.  I was so excited when they announced their SECOND restaurant in town!  It finally opened on Monday and I went for lunch there yesterday, and may or may not be going back for lunch today! :P Eat Good, Do Good.

The restaurant was funded by Founders--people and businesses from around the community and beyond!  How neat is that!  The atmosphere of this place is like no other, and I'm gonna try to take some more pictures today--it was so crowded yesterday I couldn't get very many without people in the way!  {Good problem to have on day two of business!}

I tried two different tacos yesterday (fish and grilled chicken) and am thinking about going with a quesadilla or burrito today! ;)

Yesterday was this sweet girl's birthday!  We are headed to Nash this weekend to celebrate her Bachelorette and then she is saying I DO next weekend!!  It's an exciting two weeks for her!  Her mom send me this picture a few nights ago.  Her parents are also in the middle of a move to another state...so her mom was reminiscing a bit as all these big changes are about to take place!  This girl is hilarious and can make any boring experience exciting!  We were just talking last night about how it was a HS summer again when we would meet up after work each night, get Fix N' Mixes from Wendy's (they don't make them any more :( ) or Frapps from Starbucks and cruise up and down our two main drags...we were wild ones I tell ya! ;)
I found these at Dollar Tree a few years ago...and they have been the hit of the pool since then.  Kids beg R to play with them every time we go...I've learned just to buy a lot so that all the kids will be happy (including R!)  We needed to restock because some of them broke last year...but if your a Mama of kids these are a must at the pool this summer!  (AND DID I SAY THEY ARE ONE DOLLAR!  SERIOUSLY!)
Making progress on the tree...but it's still a MESS!

These would make great stumps around a fire pit!

It didn't rain yesterday for what feels like a good 2.5 weeks...so of course we made our way to the bike trail!!

...and I love these guys any time of year!  They basically make any meal--BETTER! ;)  If you haven't ever tried them on your BLT, try it next time! ;)

Happy Wednesday friends!

mid week randoms!

This is one of the most genuine smiles I've ever experienced from my little guy!  We were rollin' through the country with the windows down listening to "Cruise"--if that can make my little guy this happy then it's going to be something we will do until he doesn't want to do it any more!  So thankful for sweet and priceless memories like these!
This little guy caught this big one out with this dad!
R was finally reunited with blanky and Tang after being away from them for a week!  {This must mean he is growing up!} :(
Have you tried the new grilled nuggets from Chick?  If not...when you get finished reading, get up and RUN {don't walk} to getchur'self some!  This may or may not be a "snack" for me after school some days!  :P  Can't keep me away!
We busted out the homemade popsicle kit this week!  R LOVES them and they are CHEAP!!!
My mom caught this picture of R during his game this week!  Priceless right?!

And the highlight of my week was getting this little booger in the mail!  Officially official!  I couldn't be happier!
This sweet friend of mine Ms. Abby sent these to my classroom!?   Flowers AND a coffee mug?!  Could she know me any better??  So sweet and thoughtful!
I stole this picture from a teacher friend of mine...this was out her classroom window last week!  All politics aside, THAT is pretty cool I tell ya!
And...because I totally agree with this!  ;)

mid week randoms!

I had the intentions of sharing a little coconut oil story with you guys tonight...but I think I'm just gonna brain dump on y'all instead for a little Mid Week Randoms!  There's just so much going on up there right now...I figured I share a bit!

  • I ended my long term sub job on Friday February 28th.  The next two school days were snow days...including in the district I was schedule to sub in (not the same one I just finished my long term in).  It all worked out...it was more time for me to be at home with R while he was recovering from Pneumonia.  Wednesday I did a full day of subbing and Thursday I was only down for a half day.  The office called me mid morning letting me know Central office had called needing to talk to me, and I needed to call them back ASAP.  Long story short, they had a long term sub job for the remainder of the year they were offering to me, and they needed me to stay the next day!  I thought about it and talked to a few different people about it...and then TOOK IT!
  • Today completed day three of being THROWN in...but it hasn't been bad at all and has actually gone better than I could have imagined and everyone has been so sweet to check in on me and make sure I'm okay! =)
  • Did I mention this long term happens to be at my mom's school?!  RANDOM huh!?  & we have the same lunch...kind of funny!  So I get to eat with her and all her crazy friends who group text 24/7--more than me and my friends!  :P
  • Yesterday...my hair was a disaster (note "coconut oil story" from above...which I will share later!)...so it was up in a big "fancy" bun--but just wasn't looking all that fabulous if you ask me...I normally NEVER wear my hair up because I am self conscious about my big ears.  Anyways...my first "official" day there girl walks up to me, "That yo real hair up on top of yo head?"  "Yeah it is."  "OH."  "Why, does it look nappy?"  "Sho does."--All I could do was LAUGH!!
  • Same girl today while wearing a cardigan with angled bottoms (not square) that happens to have a tie belt that goes with it.  "You look like you wore yo bath robe up in hur today."  "Well, thank you Mariya."
  • The wedding Ryder and I were in January that I posted about HERE never posted about... {insert super sad face...but I'll make it up soon!} was blogged about today by the fabulous Lyndsey Sullivan!  Her work is above and beYOND and I love that she captured every single detail of that day...you can feel the sweetness and gentleness of that day all over again by looking at the pictures!  Allison did a great job planning a BEAUTIFUL wedding and Lyndsey did such an amazing job capturing such fun memories of Allison and Kyle's special day!
  • We've spent the last two evenings outside playing--I forgot what it was like to come home and not be cooped up inside until the next morning!  So thankful for the warmer weather after such a COLD winter!
  • A few Ryder quotes for you..."I won't text any girls other than you mom."  "One day, when I'm older...I'll take you to a nice restaurant.  Like Pitza 4 2."  "Mom!  My thumbs are on two different sides of my hands!" He is always making me laugh and I try to remember everything he says, but it's not always possible!
  • I found out today, he is old enough to play T-Ball/Coach Pitch.  Everything is always thrown off because of his birthday, but when I saw Mama Laughlin post a pic of Tucker (born on same day as R) in a baseball uniform...I knew I had to check!  So thanks Mama! ;)
  • We bought FROZEN Friday night on the iPad and R hasn't watched anything else since then!  He is obsessed with rewinding the songs so he can go through and practice them again...here is a little clip of him singing, and make sure you wait till the very end for a SPECIAL treat! ;)

mid week randoms

Welcome to another week of Midweek randoms!  I started my in service for my semester of student teaching this week!  I am loving it so much and can't wait to meet some of my kiddos tomorrow night at Open House!  It's going to be a great semester and I seriously can't believe that I graduate in December!  It's been a long road to get here...but I am so glad I am so close to making it!

  •  My view driving to school on Monday!

  •  My mentor teacher already has her room all cute and put together!  She has so many cute things that I can't wait to recreate one day in my classroom!

  •  This child is loving being back at school on a regular schedule!  He also thinks he needs to put all his tools in his "tool belt"!  Ha!

  •  ...and this is what happens when you go through all the stuff in R's closet that Mimi has gotten him from garage sales over the last year...and realize that those shoes that looked HUGE a year ago...FIT my baby!  :(  & the baseball pants...they're actually almost too small.  Where is the time going?  Any other Mamas out there feel this way!?

  •  On a super salad kick right now!  The store was out of chicken so I went with salmon and it's been really good!  Avo, toms, cucs, carrots with some Italian dressing!  YUMM!

  •  Driving home after getting R from school I noticed that driving down the same road the clouds looked COMPLETELY different on each side of the road!  Pretty interesting huh!?

  •  I have been trying to get R to try new things and it's been a hit and miss lately....but that's better than all misses!  He liked adding a lil almond butter to his bananas last night!

  •  We played a number puzzle game before taking a bath last night.  He is doing great counting, I just want him to start recognizing numbers in number form...so we're working on that!

  • and just for kicks....R loves this commercial and watches it on YouTube!  He says it all and it's REALLY funny...maybe I can try and record him soon!
Not a lot else going on around here!  Just trying to get back into our normal "school" routine and I think we are both really excited!

Happy Hump Day Friends!  =)

mid week randoms

Happy Wednesday!  Just some more mid week randoms for ya!  I'm linking up with Megan over at In this Wonderful Life.  Enjoy this day, you'll never see it again! =)

  • Nothing better than going to bed with a clean kitchen! =)

  • Have y'all heard that a new "Elf on the Shelf" is coming out?!  A Birthday Elf!  I suppose it will have the same concept as the Christmas one with wanting the kids to "behave" in the weeks leading up to their birthday so that they will get presents!  But I will be interested to red the book!  I am sad that it doesn't come out until after Ryder's birthday...

  • We have been watching them build our new neighborhood market for months now...and opening day finally arrived, so of course we had to go!  ;)  {We are anxiously waiting for the CFA to go in, in front of it though!!  ECCCK!  Can't even believe it!}

  • We cruised up and down every aisle...I just wanted to see what they had and didn't have.  R picked these up and said, "For when you lose your eye brows!"--I was literally CRACKING UP!  He is too much sometimes!  :P

  • I've been studying for the Praxis 2 and it seriously is NOT fun!  Yes, it's stuff I've learned but BLAH I don't remember it all!  Just ready to get it over with!!  R and I made homemade pink lemonade popsicles and I had to have a little pick me up the other day while studying!

  • I asked R to put his dishes in the dishwasher the other day, because he has been asking for chores!  YES--ASKING!  SO I have been trying to find little things for him to do to make him feel grown up!  I didn't find his dishes like this until the next morning....not perfect, but hey they aren't in the sink! ;)

  • There's been construction on the main street I drive on for....oh I don't know how long.  It doesn't really bother me too much except when people don't know how to properly drive when their are orange barrels and round-abouts...and I enjoy watching the progress they are making every day! Well yesterday on my way to get R from school I noticed new LIGHTS!  ECCKK!  Look how much nice those black ones look than the tacky wood and white ones on the right!  I can't wait for it all to be done!
