our labor day weekend

Now that we have all had a week and a few days to recover from the three day weekend, I can breath! ;)

Pooh asked us to come up to the lake with her for the weekend...even though it was Thursday night at like 11:30 PM, we said YES!!  and I'm so glad that we did!  =)

Traffic...on the Friday before Labor Day!  GEEZ!
As a thank you for always letting us come stay...I picked up some Maggie's Cookies.  You can't go wrong there! :P

Here are some flashbacks of R at the lake before we get to this year!

[2011-1.5 years old]

[2012-2.5 years old]

[2013-3.5 years old]

We are so blessed to have been able to go at least once a summer to have fun on Pawpa Rick's boat--and I hope the tradition continues!
Eating dinner out on the patio...quesedilla and grapes and blueberries of course!

For Labor Day weekend the lake was very calm!  I think it was because the weather man had called for it to rain AND the Razorbacks were playing!--GOOD for us!!
Look how cute they are together!  These two have way too much fun together!

We went to a local ice cream shop that makes their ice cream in house and it was seriously AMAZING!  I saw this poster there and just feel in love...and am so thankful that I have had someone to help me fall in love with this city!
We came home on Sunday and R was off to his dad's and Mimi's and I had a coffee date with Stuart and Jackson (my cousin and his friend)!  I am so glad they make the trip to town for coffee with me! ;)  I graded papers and they worked on some homework!

Ryder went out to ANOTHER lake with his dad and had a blast!!  How fun does that lilly pad look!  I wanna play!
...and he was out catfishin' as well!  Doing what boys do best!
I got him back on Monday and we had to stop at Targ to get me some coffee!!  DUH!  He also asked me to take his picture on top of the water!  Ha!
When we got back to KeeKee and Poppy's....Poppy had a surprise for Ryder waiting for him!  His first set of camo clothes to go DOVE HUNTING the next weekend!  You have NO idea how excited that little boy was!!!

What a fantastic and blessed weekend we had!

easter table set up

My roommate and and one of my best friends from college recently moved to town with her husband and bought the cutest little house!  They've already repainted every room in the house, redone the flower beds, painted the front door, etc. etc.  I am always excited when she sends me pics of her latest projects!  I keep telling her SHE needs a blog, but if she isn't gonna take me serious, then I'm just gonna blog all her handy work! ;)

With Easter a little over a week away, I thought I would share her cute dining room set up she put together for her family coming in!
Allie loves all things natural, but I love the turquoise she added to her tablescape.  There aren't too many pastel colors taking over...which can sometimes be overwhelming.  Plain and simple neutrals, with added texture and the perfect amount of color to make it feel Spring-y and make things "pop"!
The burlap table runner is from their wedding reception...and I am all for reusing things!  The bunny ear napkin rings match perfectly to continue the "rustic" feel.
The ivory eyelet napkins equal-out the burlaps' "rustic-ness" and add just enough "fancy" to the table to make things feels extra SPECIAL!  I'm not sure if I would have though to put the two together on my own...but I LOVE the look and feel that they create!

Love their little china cabinet and all the pretties displayed inside!  {and check out that cute pic of them above! ;)}

She found the little tags, ribbons and stickers at none other than...The Target Dollar Spot!  It gives the table that personalized touch that gives your guest that extra special feeling during their visit!

Aren't her reupholstered chairs just fabulous!?

I think it all came together VERY well and I can't wait to see pictures of it after the table and plates are full of yummy FOOD as they celebrate the resurrection of our Christ Jesus on Sunday!

Burlap Bunny Ears Napkin Rings / Ivory Lace Napkins / Old Havana Salad Plate {now currently all on sale, but don't tell Allie! ;) }

our fourth

We had a pretty laid back fourth of July which was really nice.  We slept in, made breakfast together and then had some outside time before it got too hot!  We didn't have any where to be until 5 o'clock so we were just hanging out like any other day!  I love days at home with my sweet boy!
I just love these sweet sleeping feet!  =)
Nothing like waffles with chocolate chips on top!  ;)
Little back yard kiddie pool fun!
He insisted on "laying out" in my spot!  Ha!

We went to Naynee's for dinner and did fireworks with all the cousins!  We had a good time as always...and R always gets worn out!  My phone was dead and I just let it stay that way, which is why I don't have any more pictures from our evening...and I'm okay with that!  Sometimes, you just need to enjoy the moment and not worry about trying to capture all the moments!

Thankful for this country, my family and The God that we serve!

His Love...

Have you ever felt like you were being called to share so much, that it was just too overwhelming, so you didn't share anything at all?  That's been me this week while doing the #shereadstruth Holy Week study.

I have been longing to write and knew I was supposed to, but didn't know if I could get it all to come out right, or if I could even make any sense.  My heart and soul have been learning so much and it makes me so happy, that I wanted to share it with you and I wanted to get it out for myself, to help me try and process it all again.  And so that the knowledge and wisdom sticks with me even more than from before.  So here we go.

Yesterday was Good Friday.  Easily, the most bittersweet day of the year.  The day our Lord Jesus died for our sins.  Not His and our sins, but OUR sins alone.  Who does that?  ONLY OUR JESUS!  We've all heard it before, but have your really thought about it?  He wasn't just getting up there and dying for Himself and saying, "Oh, might as well die for y'all's sins too since I'm already doing it for myself."  No.  He solely did it for us.  His children.

Isaiah 53:5 tells us"He was pierced for our transgressions and He was crushed for our inequities."

I went ahead and looked up transgressions and inequities after reading this verse and found...
transgressions-violation of law
inequities-immoral or grossly unfair behavior

This gives us a better idea of the terrible things, that are ours, that He died for--our sins.  We have to remember that Jesus hadn't done anything wrong!  NOT.ONE.THING!--and here He was dying on the cross--for OUR sins!  AMAZING!

"The sinless servant of the Lord offered Himself for our sins" --NIV Life Application Bible

"We become righteous, not by our own works, but by the Messiah's great work on the cross."  --NIV Life Application Bible

This really stood out to me because so many people belief that we are saved by our "good works" here on earth, but that's not the case.  He already did all of the great work that needs to be done...and by Him doing that, we become righteous, meaning our lives full of sin have been stripped away and we are clothed in His goodness.  But we must also accept and claim Him as our Savior and Lord, the one, righteous Savior.

Isaiah 53:7 says, "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth."

He did not open his mouth.  WOW-is all I can say!  I am truly in awe that someone being put through the things He was being put through, and he didn't utter a word!  I know that was something I always had trouble with as a child (and some may say that about me even now... ;) )... and we can't even fathom what Jesus was being put through, yet He didn't complain, He didn't fight back, He did not open his mouth.  Once again, truly amazed at our Loving Lord and all He has done.

John 19:30 tells us, "When he had received the drink, Jesus said, 'It is finished.'  With that He bowed His head and gave up His spirit."

It is finished.  Paid in full.  The full penalty of our sins.

Up until this point, sin had always separated people from God and the only way that they could be forgiven for that sin and come clean with God, was through a sacrifice of an animal.  Through Jesus' death, the sacrificial system ended because Jesus took all the sin upon himself.  He was the final and ultimate sacrifice!

Because of what Jesus did, we can now freely approach God--and for those who chose to believe in Jesus' death and resurrection can live eternally with God and escape that penalty that comes from our sinful lives.

But, we must believe.

I am thankful to be able to say that this Easter has more meaning to me that it ever has in the past.  I have learned more, studied more, cared more, and tried to fathom more than ever before.  Growing up this story was just part of the story and I never really realized that it meant my life--my eternal life--and without this story it there would be no eternal life.  That's why I wanted to share what I've been opened up to over the past week.  Yes, it's the same ole story--but there is so much too it and I just want to soak it all up, like I can't get it enough!  It is good stuff!

I want to thank She Reads Truth for being such a great community of woman providing us with such great, in-depth, life changing devotionals for free!!  I've been part of the community since last June, and have two journals filled with things I have learned or been touched by  during these studies and love going back and looking at all the things I have learned and grown from.  If you are looking for a devotional to do on your own time throughout the day, but still want to have people to talk to about it, then this is your place!  Feel free to leave a comment if you have other questions, I'd be happy to answer them!  We should be starting up a new plan on Monday!

I will be hesitant to hit "publish" because I am no expert in this area...but I wanted to share this with my readers.  If it changes just one person's life, then I will have done my part.  It has been on my heart to share for two days now and I am finally saying, "Yes, Lord."

Thank you for reading and Happy Easter! =)

Thanksgiving On The Farm

We had a wonderful day out on the farm today!  R has been talking about going out there to see Naynee and "her friends" for two weeks now!  The day was finally here & we were so happy to be out there with everybody!

I woke up this morning just thinking about how thankful I am for my little man and what a blessing he has been to my life.  I never knew I could love someone as much as I love him.  I was also thinking about how blessed I am to have two of the most loving and selfless parents around, thankful for their jobs, and a warm house and bed to sleep in every night.  I could go on and on...year round, I try and take time to thank Him for all the blessings he has blessed me with, but today is a special day to reflect on all the wonderful things He has given me and my family.

While reading the #shereadstruth Thanksgiving plan this morning while still laying in bed...I read a sentence that has been with me all day, I couldn't seem to get it out of my head.  It said, "He's the same God that was with you in your proudest moment and your deepest shame.  Loving you with a steadfast love."  WOW.  Now THAT is something to be thankful for!
We had Freckle Face Farm born and raised organic ham & turkey...YUMM!!  Look at all that fat...sick I know!  We cut it all off...it just means they were healthy piggies!  ;)

Bunky is pretty much the meat men...and specifically the smoker man!  Man can he cook a mean bird! :P

We watched the parade this morning before leaving...but missed Mister Elf on a Shelf, so I took this off a Twitter to show R!  Squeak will be coming back to our house before we know it! =)
These two guys are pretty tight!  =)  I'm thankful for a Poppy that loves my little man as much as I do!
Uncle G takin R for a ride on the Kabota...I think he was getting on to him for something!  :P  IMAGINE that!  ;)
Some of their pigs...
& this is CooKoo!  He has turned into the little "pet pig"...ha!

CooKoo was sleepy after loading up on slop!
R & Sterling!  They practically played outside ALL.DAY.LONG...except for when we ate!  It was such a beautiful day!

Sweet Nana & Papaw!

A few pics with my little man...

R is such an actor!  He cracks me up!

Thankful for another Thanksgiving and wonderful friends and family to share it with!  We are blessed beyond measure, and I think some days we tend to forget that!

Hope you and your families enjoyed a day full a laughter, food and fellowship as we did!
