Letting Mr. Turtle go to a new home...

A while back Ryder came home from Mimi & PawPaw's with a little baby turtle.  This is something I always wanted as a kid and was never able to get one because they stopped selling them in pet stores because they carried salmonella.  Sad day for this little girl.

I was excited when R brought it home, but I truly didn't know what to do with it.  We kept it for about a week and gave him lettuce, new clean and green leaves, and fresh water every day, but we never saw him take any interest in any of it.  He always just covered himself in the dirt and stayed there all day.

I knew it was time to let Mr. Turtle go and give him a life out in the wild like he deserved.  It took some convincing to get Ryder on board, but once I told him we could put a dot on his back, and that we could go look for him every once and a while at Tucker Creek to check on him, he was a little happier about it.

I tried to explain to him that we couldn't get Mr. Turtle the best life and that he would have a better life at Tucker Creek with other turtle friends.  He was sad, but did very well when it came time to let him go!

We haven't gone to "look" for him yet, but I am hoping to soon!  :)
